The term Moor is an exonym first utilized by Christian Europeans to describe the Muslim occupants who lived in the Maghreb, the Iberian Peninsula, Sicily, and Malta. The Moors, at first were the native Maghrebine Berbers. The name was later additionally applied to Arabs and Arabized Iberians.

The term Moor is an exonym first utilized by Christian Europeans to describe the Muslim occupants who lived in the Maghreb, the Iberian Peninsula, Sicily, and Malta. The Moors, at first were the native Maghrebine Berbers. The name was later additionally applied to Arabs and Arabized Iberians. 

Moors are not unmistakable or self-characterized individuals. The 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica saw that the term had "no genuine ethnological worth." During the Middle Age and the early present-day time frame, Europeans applied the name to Arabs, and North African Berbers, just like Muslim Europeans.
